Some items re exam 1a

"Exam 1a" review slides are now available on electronic reserve, and related video exam review tutorials--each consisting of just one slide with my voice-over summary--are accessible via educreations.com.

Files of Exam 1a-related clicker questions from sessions 1-7 should also be on ERes sometime tomorrow p.m.

...From a very alert student:

Question:  In the Power Point titled "06 (for 2/12 virtual session) Add'l Aspects of Organizational Culture and Design (notes for online presentation)" one of the slides confused me. On slide 8, classifying corporate culture, the chart and the notes to the slide do not match. For example, based on the chart a clan would be a controlled environment with internal focus. However the note to the slide says " Clan Culture -Internal focus and flexible - A friendly workplace where leaders act like father figures."  Could you please tell me which is right, the slide or the note to the slide.

Answer: The table is wrong, and apologies for the typo.  Here's the corrected slide ....

Q: Hi professor Fogelman, is there a special order we should be watching these videos in? I received 6 videos. Also are they for tomorrows class? Thanks

A: They are not for tomorrow, and after the overview you can watch them in any sequence.

They are review videos for exam 1a.  Please check the file name for each one, which is printed above it in blue.

The pink one is advice that applies to all 3 of our in-term exams. When you watch the overview one, it will inform you which sessions each of the others refers to.

I've also discovered a slip of the tongue in the Session 05 flip video introducing  Organizational Design definitions:  The corrected version, consistent with the organizational charts and other statements throughout the course, is that wider spans of control produce a flatter organization--not a taller one.
